US Interest Rate Decision Today - MI010524

This evening sees the FED report its interest rate decision.

With global rhetoric it looks nailed on for it to be kept at 5.5%.

Global banks appeared to be a little eager to price in expected drops in central bank rates earlier this year, but have now reversed that decision and are tightening back up again.

The FEDs monetary policy statement might be the more interesting piece of scheduled news for USD rates today.

For followers of the Japanese Yen, which has been volatile in recent days, the Bank of Japans monetary policy meeting minutes in the early hours of tomorrow could be of interest.

Business news centres on the UK housing market where there is conflicting data being reported. Some bodies have shown monthly increases in house prices, but the Nationwide has shown a -0.4% contraction in monthly prices this morning. This could be down to a difference between asking prices and accepted prices for mortgage purposes.
