Market Comment - 26th July 2021

Good morning,

As expected there isn't much change in the rates following the market closure over the weekend. With no real news out or events to shape a change things have opened calmly today.

We aren't expecting much today either in all fairness. The Bank of England's Gertjan Vlieghe (member of the Monetary Policy Committee) is speaking later, but there shouldn't be much coming out that can affect the GBP rate.

Eyes will be on the US home sales data later as that can often be seen as a good indicator of the overall health of the US economy. If people are buying new houses it tends to show that there is a willingness to spend.

The early hours of tomorrow could be interesting too with some Japanese data out followed by the BoJ's Governor speaking at 8.30am.

As ever we look forward to keeping you in the loop and look out for our next update.
