Market Comment - 9th January 2023

Good morning,

The Pound had a significant rebound on Friday against the Euro and the Dollar. Sterling was well in favour later on Friday gaining against most majors.

Things have started a little quieter this morning with no real market centric news over the weekend. Business news continues on the same vein of strikes and the cost of living.

After a big end to the week last week for numbers, today is much quieter. First up is European employment numbers followed by a speech from a member of the Bank of England. There's then a speech from the FED before eyes will turn to the UK's like for like retail sales just after midnight.
