Speeches Dominate Proceedings - MI160524

Today sees the possibility for volatility in both GBP/EUR and GBP/USD rates.

Over the next 24 hours there are a number of speeches from the UK, European and US central banks.

In recent weeks, similar speeches have caused fluctuations in Pound rates.

However it's the Chinese data in the early hours that could shed a spotlight on the global economy with their retail sales figures being reported.

Then it's European inflation tomorrow that will be the hot topic of debate as it's predicted the ECB could well be the first large central bank to cut rates in the next month or two.

Business news centres on the US economy and how hot it's running. The President has effectively taken a huge gamble by borrowing heavily and investing into manufacturing infrastructure to bring business back from China to the US. The question being asked is whether the gamble will pay off.
