It's Super Thursday. UK interest rate decision, vote count and monetary policy report. Big day for the Pound
Analysts think it's nailed on that the Bank of England will leave the base rate at 5.25% today, and leave the door open for a potential last hike in December to 5.5%. Possibly more interesting will be the monetary policy committee's rate count at midday. Analysts are expecting a count of 6 unchanged and 3 for a further hike. Watch this space.
The next item to watch will be the speech by the BoE Governor, Andrew Bailey. If it follows the tones of the FED Chair, Jerome Powell, yesterday evening, it could spell out a positive outlook. Jerome Powell came across as very upbeat on the US economy for the coming 12 months. This is all a pre cursor for the all important inflation numbers to be reported later in the month.
Outside of the above there's initial jobless claims from the States before Chinese services data in the early hours of Friday.
